The Tears of the Celestial Maiden was first revealed to Ajarn Chaw during a time of grave illness.

As his body weakened, a revered monk from Ayutthaya — a master who had taught countless great Ajarns — came to purify him with holy water.

That day, the master unveiled his most treasured creation, kept only at the top of his altar: a small, luminous vial known as “Tears of the Celestial Maiden.”

Why is it called Tears of the Celestial Maiden?

Because it is made from the sacred Wax Flower Tree (Bai La Song), inhabited by the spirit of the celestial nymph Kinnari.

To collect it, the master must journey into the eastern mountains, find three specific trees, and — while holding his breath — cut a single branch from each in one stroke.

Fail once, and the tree becomes unusable forever.

 

The blossoms are then sun-dried and placed beneath the temple eaves to absorb rainwater that falls exactly five days after the full moon of the twelfth lunar month — a day when rain should not exist.

It is said that this rain is the tears of the celestial nymph herself, moved by compassion for humanity.

 

The flowers are then soaked in these “heavenly tears” and boiled with 17 sacred herbs under chants of compassion, love, and mercy — creating an oil that shimmers with an ethereal green hue, completely natural and plant-based.
